Things to do in Lisbon, Portugal


Lisbon is an up and coming travel destination that has been growing in popularity in recent years due to their lax visas for foreign nationals. It's the capital of Portugal and is full of friendly people and lots of culture and colors.

Visit Belem

There are a number of sites located in this neighborhood within decent walking distance of each other. There are also motorized scooters you can rent to get around quicker! Begin your trip in Belem with a visit to the famous Pastéis de Belém. This cafe holds the original recipe for the famous egg-based pastries that you'll fall in love with. After satisfying your sweet tooth, take a walk over and explore the Belem Palace and Praça do Império grounds.


From here, you can walk over to the Padrao dos Descobrimetos and and follow the waterline to Belem Tower. Make sure to take in views of the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge lookalike, it really does look like you're in California for a second!


Miradouro de Santa Luzia

If you're looking for some panoramic views of Lisbon to see those iconic colorful rooftops, then come by the Miradouro de Santa Luzia viewpoint! Here you can get some classic pictures of Lisbon and explore more of the Alfama district. There are numerous places to eat and explore, just have fun and get lost! There are tons of eateries and places to enjoy a glass of port wine!


Take a Tram Ride

The trams are scattered all throughout the hilly sitting of Lisbon. To keep with the San Francisco theme, hop on the tram for a ride around the city. Have some euros/coins on hand to easily pay with so you can jump on and off!


Time Out Market

There are dozens of stands here that allow you to explore the different Portuguese cuisines as well as food from all over the world. Stop here for a quick bite for lunch and a glass of port wine!


Sunset Yacht Cruise

Finish off the night with a cruise along the water. These cruises take off from Belem and usually include several glasses of port wine to enjoy with the sunset. It was a calm way to end our trip to Europe for our last night.

Day trip to Sintra

Have you ever wanted to feel like a disney princess? The castles in Sintra are literally stunning. When we went it was covered in a beautiful, intense fog that added a dramatic element to the scenery. It's only about 30 minutes away via public transportation.
